We connect and manage 100% renewable energy through the intelligent control of renewable generators, such as wind turbines and solar panels. We work closely with renewable asset owners, buying their energy and then selling it onto the UK’s grid, giving them simple access to the power market. But, the sun isn’t always shining and the wind isn’t always blowing. We must therefore capture energy for times when there is high demand. By harnessing big data and renewable technology, we accelerate the UK’s transition to net zero carbon emissions.


The Role
As our Technical Lead for Data Engineering you will architect, build and improve our enterprise-wide data platforms (pipelines, warehouses and lakes), ensuring we have dependable and quality data available to power our core business processes.

The role has three main responsibilities. Firstly, the hands-on design and coding of technical solutions, ensuring technical output from the Data Engineering team meets business needs and aligns with best practise. Secondly, responsibility for the business data strategy and policy, working with other Technical Leads, Product Owners and wider teams to ensure data validation & integrity. Finally, you will play a role in defining platform-wide architecture, identifying technical debt, and coordinating cross-team initiatives with peers across Limejump.

The role will involve line management responsibilities and you will report into the Head of Data Science.

 
What we need from you – Essential Requirements

  • Passion and commitment towards team leadership.
  • Passion for sustainability energy and/or experience within the industry.
  • Knowledge of data policy formation & implementation.
  • A commitment to quality and good testing practices.
  • An open and collaborative attitude with a desire to help others.
  • An ability to communicate and work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detailed knowledge of modern cloud-based architectures, ideally AWS, with detailed domain knowledge of the various data services available.
  • The ability to lead end to end design and implementation of data engineering work within a data-intensive environment.
  • Experience of end-to-end project delivery, including line management and mentoring of more junior team members.
  • A degree (BSc/ MSc/ PhD) in a quantitative subject (Maths, Physical sciences, Computer science etc…) or equivalent experience.

Technically proficient with:

  • Python and SQL.
  • AWS data services (DynamoDB, RDS, Redshift, Timestream).
  • Kafka / event-driven systems.
  • Kubernetes / container-based deployments.
  • It would be preferable to have some experience using Snowflake, Debezium, DBT, Airflow and Looker.

Working Pattern
Limejump works off hybrid model, split between home and office working.

Unfortunately, Limejump cannot offer 100% remote roles.
