About Limejump
Optimising a 100% renewable energy future is our vision.

Limejump is a technology platform that manages a large renewable energy network. Our portfolio delivers clean energy to businesses and homes, using renewables and stored energy when it’s needed to meet demand.

We connect and manage 100% renewable energy through the intelligent control of renewable generators, such as wind turbines and solar panels. We work closely with renewable asset owners, buying their energy and then selling it onto the UK’s grid, giving them simple access to the power market. But, the sun isn’t always shining and the wind isn’t always blowing. We must therefore capture energy for times when there is high demand. By harnessing big data and renewable technology, we accelerate the UK’s transition to net zero carbon emissions.

The Role
As a Data Scientist at Limejump, you will be responsible for applying advanced analytics, data science and machine learning to develop market leading energy forecasting solutions, real-time control, and business insights for Limejump.

You will work with a dynamic team in a rapidly growing technology company at the forefront of disrupting an established industry, from our London office.

What You'll Do:

Your primary responsibility is to further improve and leverage the Limejump’s advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities. Your responsibilities will include:

    • Creating market-leading forecasting and optimisation algorithms that are used to operate and/or manage distributed energy assets, including in real-time.
    • Build and validate advanced models, applications, and services for guiding decisions by analytics, commercial, trading and operations teams.
  • Developing our data science platforms and deploying models into production.
  • Explore how machine learning methods, processes, and techniques can be further applied to core Limejump challenges, and present key findings internally and externally.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What we need from you – Essential skills:

  • Passionate about renewable energy markets and committed to drive actions towards UK carbon neutrality target.
  • Good understanding of Machine Learning frameworks, tools and algorithms covering regression classification, and optimisation problems (preferably in Python).
  • 3+ years of experience in using Python for data science purposes within data-intensive environments; ideally in the energy, tech, finance or consumer goods sector.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes, engineering tasks and the infrastructure around productionising the algorithms you’ll be building.
  • Commercial acumen and awareness of the impact of your work; follow the 80:20 philosophy.
  • Strong academic background with a degree (MSc/PhD) in a quantitative subject (physical sciences, maths, engineering etc…).

We would like to see - Desirable skills:

  • Experience in constraint-based optimisation and mixed integer linear programming.
  • Experience in the energy sector: dealing with timeseries data, familiarity with power pricing and hedging strategies, and exposure to flexible assets such as battery energy storage systems.
